Thanks to Randy Tuttle for bringing up the fact that the Lynn Abrams Straight Razor Shaving Video should be posted here.
Interested in a straight, or want to see how the "Honemeister" himself shaves with a straight?

I think Lynn does it so beautifully! I try my best to use his technique, except I have a big problem. I'm unable to stretch my facial skin. If I try, I experience unbearable pain.

| Question about the scuttle. Can you use boiling water in it or would that crack it?

Since the pot is ceramic, it could handle boiling water. However, this is just likely to dry out your lather. What I do is pre-warm my scuttle with hot tap water and then take a shower. Then I empty it and refill it before the shave. The lather stays warm enough.

| That's what I thought. There is a thread using a quaich for lather in a hot pot. I thought that might dry out the lather as well. Wanted to see if the scuttle was better.

| Does it really keep the lather nice and warm between passes?

....if mine is any example,
YES.
Typically, after the first hot lather pass, its simple to plop the brush down in the scuttle while I shave. It's still good to go for a few more passes.

I, too, use a scuttle (Georgetown), and it keeps the brush warm. I usually change the water in the scuttle interior in between passes because I like REALLY warm lather.

| Too bad the photos are boogered in the 2 year old posts. Probably can't be fixed. Oh well. Maybe somebody will take some new ones, and post them! I don't have one of those type scuttles, or I'd have already done it.
