| Merkur Long handle classic. Different feel than the HD, great shave.

I remember someone said they asked Muhle Pinsel and they said their razors were made in Italy. They are different, but both are chromed.

Well, if you really have got it all figured out with the HD you could keep working with the Futur, it will give great shaves and will force you to perfect your technique.
However if you really have the bug, I would 2nd the Slant Bar suggestion, or you could look at a more conservative adjustable like a Gillette or the Progress.
Str8s are fun if you have the time to invest in them.

| My advice: get the Slant. You can sell it here if it doesn't work out. What blades do you use? The slant works best with a sharp blade. |

Plastic knob notwithstanding, I really like the Progress. I've been through about 10 different DEs this year, and I've settled on the Merkur 1904 and the Merkur Progress for consistently close shaves. I will probably get an HD just to have one, but I understand the head is the same as the 1904.
Good luck,
Doug

definately get the slant. it works great! and keep the HD too.
and this brings up a question... i thought the head geometry was the same on the LH as well as the HD... crap maybe now I'm going to have to buy the HD. the reason i got the LH was the length of the handle. but i've fallen in love with it since the beginning of the year when i got it, so maybe i'll just leave well enough alone. i've already got a slant which i plan on shaving with tomorrow.

The plastic knob on the Progress is plastic over a mostly metal knob. Some people here have removed the plastic and are happy with the result.
I used the slant bar recently after a long break from it, and I noticed this time that it's easy to set a good blade-to-face angle. The HD (which looks very similar) may be the same way, but I don't have one, so I'm not sure.

I am caught between buying a slant or a 1904.
I read Greenburg's review of the slan and it kind of scared me. I have sensitive skin, but I like the BBS ability the slant seems to provide if you tame it. Anyone have a suggestion between these?
Thanks,
Ryan
