I don't care what DEsquire tells you, he was shaking. Make sure you point this out to him when he comes in here acting all tough.
He shaved yesterday after work and I shaved when I woke up. Both shaves went very well.
Going WTG seemed almost useless I thought maybe my angle was wrong because I still felt stubble. I could feel it cut but when I ran my hand over the area it felt like nothing happened. I still think my angle is off but I am sure that will come with time. I did two passes WTG and then 2 ATG. ATG went really well, cut it all off and gave me a nice shave. Not BBS, but I was expecting far worse. My cheeks are smooth and my trouble areas are, well, still troubled. No pain, just stubble.
All in all it was a great shave. I used Trumpers Violet for the first time ever and that was so nice. It lathered well with no effort. The HD is a great razor to start with, now I understand why its recommended. I didn't cut myself once, that's awesome. I thought I was going to die Great shave today, can't wait for tomorrow. Thanks for all the help guys I really appreciate it.
Remember, DEsquire was shaking, if you take nothing from this post that is what you should remember.
Jay

| After the first pass you will indeed feel stubble. I suspect that this is why some new shavers start using too much pressure: they think the first pass should leave them with no stubble. Not so: it's a matter of progressive stubble reduction. You'll feel stubble after the first pass, still some after the second. |

That, sir, is the perfect first shave. Your WTG pass is supposed to feel useless. It only does half the job, after all. In fact, the whole shave should feel like you're accomplishing nothing at all - until you do your last rinse and feel the result.
Change one of the against passes to across. Coming at the trouble spots from a different direction is much more helpful than doing the same pass over again.

In my defense brderj watched me shave this morning he claimed he didn't have enough stubble I think he just needed to watch a real man shave first Oh by the way my hand was shaking. And I did bleed. But nothing more than what I would have experienced with a disposable multiblade. What brderj didn't tell you was once I could feel the angle and necessary pressure fo the blade I really tried to see what I could do with the razor. I got all of my chin stubble which I don't think I've ever gotten in my life. I did get redness but, It didn't burn. I'm telling you if I had done what I did this morning with a multiblade, I would still be in pain 12 hours later.
I shaved with Trumper's Sandalwood which I had said earlier was a bit different than Taylor's. I must admit I was dissappointed with the scent until I lathered up. Something happens to the cream once it's lathered. I don't know if it border's on witchcraft but it's amazing. I laugh thinking about how little effort it took to make an incredible amount of cream. As I was shaving brderj, who has developed a more experienced technique for lather, had whipped up a full bowl of fluffy white goodness, laughing in a mazement like a mad scientist, seriously the only think missing was the white lab coat and egore, "yes master, yes!" Maybe that was me as I shaved.
notthesharpest you hit the nail on the head. I didn't notice anything really different until I slapped some cold water on my face and rinsed. Jesus. I haven't had skin that smooth since grade school.
All in all gentlemen, aside from it being a little scary at first, all the knowledge that you've been so forthcoming with to brderj has really not just made this a great shaving experience, but truly a great experience. period. Leisureguy all I kept thinking about running that blade across my virgin face was what you told brderj about the angle it probably kept me from slicing my face open. Thank you.
I know I speak for J when I say that it will be the only way we shave until the day we die. But you have all made it that much easier to do it.
One more thing, if Lee's Razor's went public on the stock market tomorrow I'd buy as many share's as I could afford. Truly as class all by himself.

Now that just made my day. Most people choose to shave, its something they do, but if they don't or they miss a day, no big deal. In our jobs we HAVE to shave. There is no way around it, if you come to work looking like a Johnnie dirt bag you will certainly be paying for it later. So this is a necessary evil for us, we shave, we bleed and hurt, and go about our days. I've been doing this for the past 9 years. And until recently I have never enjoyed it. So yeah we are enthusiastic about it, this has not only improved our mornings but a major aspect of our lives. Thanks to everyone for helping us along the way. Be certain that there will be more annoying questions though, your not off the hook yet!!!
