Well much to my surprise when I got home from work this afternoon I found a package from our favourite scuttle potter - Sara. I was not expecting it for another week or so but here it is and what a beauty!!
I immediately soaked my 26mm Rooney Super and ran some hot water into the scuttle to warm it up - drained then filled again with fresh hot water.
Squirted a dollop of Florena cream and mixed up a lovely warm lather, which I brushed on my hand. The lather stayed warm for quite a while in the bowl - but the best thing is that it did not begin to dry out as it did with my hot pot rig. This is a very gentle warmth and it feels luxurious. Well it did on my hand anyway - can't wait for tomorrow a.m.
Moss - you're a genius!
P.S I feel I should get a tea cozy for it....

Between passes, remember to shove the brush down into the inner bowl so it splays a bit and the maximum contact between brush/lather and bowl walls is obtained.
Have fun,

| I've been to Sara's site and seen the scuttle, but does anyone have pics on how to use it?

Well I just had a wonderful shave with the Moss Scuttle - warm lather for 5 passes. It is a little strange because I'm not use to the feeling of warm lather during the latter stages of my shave - but it is a strange I'm going to get use to very quickly!
Two thumbs (and a couple of toes) up!!
...and Chris thanks for the little tip - works nicely.

I'm very pleased it even works in the frozen wastes of Winnipeg! Did you get the standard colour or did you negotiate something else?

You called it a scuttle, but it doesn't look like what I'm used to. Mine has an upper compartment for soap. I like this better. It's more like a double boiler.
I notice you called it the Moss scuttle. Where could I get one.

Joe,
The scuttle can be ordered from www.sarabonnymanpottery.com and you can read more about it in some threads in this forum and the pictures and videos forum.

No commission, I'm afraid. Merely the satisfaction of having a piece of equipment made just as I wanted it and then being able to share it with the deserving - you!
Might I remind you all that I think Sally is off to the sun for a week so don't get your knickers in a twist if she doesn't reply immediately to e-mails.

Joe - yes technically it is more like a double boiler, but another member here dubbed it the "Moss Scuttle" - and so it shall go down in the annuls of shave history.

| Kudos to Chris Moss. Like was the case with his book, he dedicated this to us when he could have profitted from it personally.

| The scuttle arrived today and I have a question. Does the upper part part of the scuttle seperate from the lower section or do you simply add the water through the spout?

Steve,
The two pieces are permanently attached, so you add your hot water through the spout.
Cheers,
Indy
